What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?

Back in 2000, I travelled with my family to Martinique. This is a Caribbean island not far from Venezuela and Saint Lucie, belonging to France.

This wasn’t just a fun trip but rather a journey to track our roots because my grandfather originates there.

Martinique is a tropical island with beautiful, natural sandy beaches. One morning, we went to La Plage des Salines, one of the most popular beaches on the island.

As I stepped into the water, I felt something with my feet. I had stepped on a sharp object. I pulled it out of the water and saw a big, perfect shell in white and light brown colours.

I tried to find more, similar shells, unsuccessfully.

I still have that shell. I haven’t been to Martinique since then, but the shell reminds me of the island.
